Rabies KILLS!!
RABIES is a deadly infection that affects the brain and is caused by a virus that is transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal. Over 98% of cases occur following a dog bite.
Rabies remains INCURABLE but 100% PREVENTABLE.
When exposed or bitten, it is BEST to:
1. Wash the bite wound with soap and running water for at
least 10 minutes.
2. Get vaccinated right away. (Post- Exposure Prophylaxis or
PEP)
3. Feed and observe the biting animal for 2 weeks.
The bites that necessitate PEP are by dogs, cats, wild animals (monkeys, bats, etc.), and livestock (pigs, cattle, goats, sheep, etc.)
Bites by rodents, reptiles, fowl, and fishes
DO NOT NEED Anti-rabies vaccination.
Prevention is the ONLY protection.
Be aware. Get vaccinated.
Keep Davao City clean, happy, and safe.
